Window businesses throughout the supply chain are being urged to join in a survey to ‘gain insights to enable change’ in perceptions of window recycling.

Rehau, which launched the survey to mark Recycling Week says it is aiming to raise homeowners’ awareness of window recycling throughout the year, preceding ‘a longer-term view to shifting behaviour and placing emphasis on the consumer to request recycled profiles’.

Some 57% of UK residents said they wanted to be more eco-friendly, according to a recent Rated People survey but, according to Rehau UK CEO Martin Hitchin, there is sometimes a disconnect between attitudes and action on this issue. “Definite strides have been made towards creating a greener planet in the UK, but while people’s hearts may be in the right place on sustainability, these thoughts do not always translate into best practice.

“It’s our mission to ensure all windows are recycled when being replaced by a Rehau installer, and that all new windows are eventually manufactured with a form of recycled polymer.

“In order to do this, we need collaboration throughout the supply chain – installers are at the coal face of consumer behaviour, and therefore their insight is imperative to start us on this journey.

“In taking part in this survey, installers will be helping us to make incremental steps further towards our organisation’s highly ambitious sustainability targets, as well as our commitment to the circular economy and a ‘planet before profit’ mantra.”

Those who take part in the survey will automatically be placed in a draw to win a £100 Amazon Voucher.
