Work is underway at the Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham, where Senior Architectural Systems is undertaking one of its largest retrofit contracts to date, replacing over 18,000sqm of existing windows with its SPW600 system.

The replacement window and door programme is part of an agreement between Nottingham University Hospital and energy company Eon and is expected to reduce carbon emissions and deliver over £2.8 million of energy savings each year.

The SPW600 aluminium windows have provided U-values of around 1.3w/m2K and the thermal-efficiency was further enhanced through the use of solar-controlled glazing to reduce the risk of overheating in the summer months.

Working with main contractor Willmott Dixon and installer Acorn Aluminium, the programme is due to complete in late 2024 with the Queens Medical Centre, part of the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, remaining operational throughout.
