Customers get preview of NSG Group's new £36M Off-Line Coater
The NSG Group – manufacturers of Pilkington glass – is welcoming customers to view its new £36 million off-line coater facility, before it starts manufacture in November. The coater, at the Company’s Cowley Hill site in St Helens, is one of the most advanced facilities of its type in the world. It enables ultra-thin special coatings to be applied to glass, creating a range of high performance energy-saving glazing Pilkington products.
As the UK’s first jumbo off-line coating plant, it allows the NSG Group to manufacture a wider range of such products in the UK. This includes the new Pilkington K Glass™ S range and existing Pilkington Suncool™ and Pilkington Optitherm™ lines. Cowley Hill will be meeting demand from across Europe as well as serving the UK market.

GGF Welcomes £125m Green Deal Cash Back
The Glass and Glazing Federation welcomed the recent Government announcement on a new Green Deal Cash Back Scheme that will offer hundreds of pounds cash back to householders in England and Wales who make energy saving home improvements under the Green Deal from January 2013.
Under the Green Deal Cash Back Scheme the Glass and Glazing sector rates are:
Window replacement – single glazed to A rated £20 per square metre up to £320 maximum payment
Doors - £40 per door
Secondary glazing - £15 per metre squared up to £230 maximum payment

Green Deal cash back does not go far enough
The Government’s newly announced £125 million worth of cash back payments for households who take early advantage of the Green Deal is a welcome incentive for helping the scheme get under way according to the Federation of Master Builders (FMB).
However, with a cap of £1,000 cash back per household for energy efficiency improvements, this money may only cover as few as 125,000 homes which is a fraction of the 14 million homes the Government hopes will be upgraded under the Green Deal by 2020.

FENSA publishes ‘Guide to Transition to Certified Installer’
FENSA has published its processes and information to help companies self-certifying replacement window and door installations to transition to the revised Competent Person Scheme (CPS) requirements recently set out by the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG).
Since June 2012,the DCLG have set out these revised requirements which mean that all glazing CPSs are required to introduce the same changes. This involves transferring existing registered companies from self-certifying using the old Competent Person inspection regime to self-certifying under the revised scheme as a Certified Installer.

GGF Drives Members Concerns at Conservative Party Conference
The GGF completed its presentations at the party conferences with double exposure at the Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham.
Nigel Rees, GGF Group Chief Executive attended the Conservative Party Business Day on Tuesday, 9 October whilst Giles Willson Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Technical Affairs presented at the Dods Green Deal Dialogue Fringe Event.

Safestyle UK Extends Partnership with Mila
Retail giant Safestyle UK has just signed a two year supply agreement with Mila, which will extend the longstanding partnership between the businesses to almost 20 years.
Mila will continue to be Safestyle UK’s preferred hardware supplier until the end of 2014 and will provide the vast majority of its hardware requirements.

New Bohle Main Catalogue
The Bohle Group has launched their new Main Catalogue "Glass and Glazier 2012”. It complements the 500-page Hardware Catalogue, "Fittings for Glass 2012", which was published in the summer. The new Main Catalogue contains a comprehensive range of products for glass processing and finishing with over 400 pages and nearly 3,000 products, subdivided into the chapters Glass Cutting and Glass Breaking, Automatic Glass Cutting, Glass Processing Machinery, Glass Grinding, Glass Drilling, Glass Sawing, Handling, Glazing, Surface Protection, Glass Bonding and Glass Mounting.
As well as the tried and tested Bohle brands and products, the catalogue also includes numerous new product innovations across almost all of the nine product divisions.

£1 Million Cashback for LHC Consortium Members
Members of procurement consortium LHC have received rebates as part of the not-for-profit organisation’s annual revenue sharing scheme, following a top year which saw LHC save the public sector more than £19m.
The consortium, which provides independent technical advice and construction procurement framework arrangements for public sector buildings, has worked with local authorities, social landlords and schools and other public sector bodies across the UK to launch 414 separate projects - saving an estimated £19million in man hours.

Previously Known as Rapid Fit Orangery Roof the re-badged and launched IX250 aluminium roof plinth is now fully Patent Approved.
Evolution Atriums, which is part of the Evolution Manufacturing group based in Bedfordshire has purchased the patent and manufacturing rights from the inventor and are now supplying the product nationwide.

David Pitt - 1957 – 2012
It is with great sadness that we learn that David Pitt, Anglian Home Improvements Senior Product Manager passed away on the 17th October after a brave fight against the brain tumour discovered in January this year.
