Crimping machine reduces lead times
16th October 2012

Dynatech Engineering, manufacturer of the Locit window and door cable safety restrictor has invested in new machinery to offer faster lead-times and further product variation.

The new machine, made by Swedish producer ‘Talurit’, mechanically crimps the stainless steel connector to the wire cable using 300kN of force. The decision to invest in the 18-ton machine came after Dynatech and distributor Sash Jack, saw a massive increase in sales over the last six-months.

Andrew Lane, Dynatech Managing Director commented “Previously, the crimping process for the Locit cable safety restrictor had been sub-contracted, increasing the products lead-time. Since its launch, we have seen a massive 80% increase in our unit volumes, so inevitably it made sense to bring all manufacturing processes in-house and reduce customers lead-times.

“The new machine will also offer other benefits for our customers moving forward; being simple and easy to operate, we have been able to train multiple users resulting in potentially no down time for production. The swaging machine can also manage varying wire sizes, providing the opportunity for us to review and develop the product range further.” Andrew continues.

Chris Law, Sash Jack, sole distributor for the Locit range of products concludes, “We are delighted that Dynatech has taken this step and purchased the new machine, it can only help towards improving customer confidence in the products”.

Locit cable safety restrictors fit directly on to the window or door’s internal frames. They restrict full opening with the use of a high strength cable and lockable body unit. The restrictor has been fully tested to comply with the requirements of BS:6375 part 2:2009 and are used mainly on windows or doors in areas where they is a risk of falls.
