A glass and glazing company in Exeter is looking to take on a Fenestration Apprentice to join the team and learn the trade on a dedicated Apprenticeship programme in partnership with Ofsted Outstanding training provider, Skills Group.
Exeter Glass Centre has decided that they would like to expand their team and that training a dedicated, motivated and conscientious person as an Apprentice Glazier is the best way forward for their businesses.
Exeter Glass Centre is part of the highly successful Cornwall Glass and Glazing Company, which has branches across the South West. The company already has 14 glass processing and glazing Apprentices at its branches that stretch from Penzance to Warminster.
Mark Knight, Training Manager for Exeter Glass Centre said “We’ve been working with Skills Group for a couple of years now and have been hugely impressed with their flexibility and experience in fenestration apprenticeship training. For us, as a local company we want to be able to train local people to be able to sustain and grow our business now and in the future, and to be taught the way we want them to be taught- the right way! The apprenticeship programme enables us to do this and provides a recognised industry qualification for our staff on successful completion.”
The glazing company has a strong training record for their staff, and consistently seek to improve and up-skill their workforce. Recently, several members of staff successfully completed level 2 and level 3 qualifications and were presented with their framework certificates. By seeking a new member of staff to start on the Apprenticeship programme, Exeter Glass Centre are showing their commitment to training the next generation of glass and glazing trades people.
Apprenticeships are a key agenda item, and as such the government are keen to encourage employers to consider taking on an Apprentice. There is currently a wage incentive grant available to any employers taking on an Apprentice for the first time, or for employers that have not employed an Apprentice in the last twelve months, of £1,500 per Apprentice.
Skills Group offers over fifty apprenticeship programmes in a variety of sectors including Construction, Engineering, Childcare and Care, Hairdressing, Flooring and Business and can advertise, interview and recruit on behalf of the employer to find a suitable candidate, they can also arrange the grant payment for employers and identify any other funding opportunities that may be available.
