Sealant for New Fire Resistant Glazed Door
23rd October 2012

Bostik 5000 Hot Melt Butyl sealant has been specified for use in a new high-performance fire-resistant glazed door launched by Cleartherm and Nationwide Windows – highlighting its heat resistance properties.

Offering thirty minutes integrity in a blaze, the new door range is able to stand the heat with the help of leading glass manufacturer NSG Group’s Pilkington Pyrodur® Plus 30-104 product. Incorporating 7mm Pilkington Pyrodur® Plus 30-104, it provides an effective barrier to both hot gases and flames, even with temperatures on the side exposed to the fire in excess of 840oC.

Dave Laing, Managing Director, Cleartherm, explains: “Having worked with Bostik for nearly twenty five years, we knew that 5000 HMB was the right product for the job. Its quality, durability and excellent heat resistance performance ensure that it plays a crucial part in us having a class leading quality tested offering.”

Bostik 5000 Hot Melt Butyl IG Sealant is a single part butyl rubber based sealant, specially developed for the edge sealing of factory produced insulating glass units. The product exceeds the requirements of EN1279 and offers outstanding performance and reliability.
