Britdoors launches into composite door market with enhanced products at no extra cost
Having acquired the trade and assets of leading composite door brands Homesafe and Securidor from grouphomesafe earlier this month, the Britdoors Group has been working on improving the products of these two well-known trade names and is now ready to launch into the marketplace as a significant new player.
From the start, with these two brands in its portfolio, Britdoors already lays claim to a significant share of the composite door market. The company has ambitious plans for growth and will be making significant investment in technology, product enhancement and innovation, as well as in improving customer service and product quality, in order to provide the best end-to-end customer experience in the industry. In addition, there will be a focus on supporting trade partners, creating bespoke products for them which will make the resale process to the end-user simpler and more cost effective.

Hegla and Bystronic Glass - A New Era
The preferred partnership co-operation between Hegla and Bystronic glass announced in January this year has led to the introduction of new measures and taken progressive steps forward to offer the industry the best in terms of optimum performance and service.
At glasstec 2012, Hegla UK will assume responsibility for sales of both Bystronic glass and Hegla machinery throughout the UK and Ireland. Bystronic glass UK retains responsibility for installation and after sales service on the complete range of Bystronic glass equipment whilst progressively integrating with Hegla UK in relation to installation and after sales support.
The amalgamation of a unified sales and service presence in the UK comes after negotiation between senior management at both companies here and at the respective head offices in Germany.

Network VEKA Members prepared for change
Network VEKA's recent 2012 AGM was hailed as ‘a fantastic success’, with Cranage Hall in Cheshire playing host to member companies from every corner of the UK.
Delegates viewed products from Bowater Doors, Force 8, Legacy Windows, Doors & Conservatories and Prefix before attending three informative seminars that preceded the main AGM and followed the theme of 'A Time of Change'. All speeches and presentations were designed to help companies 'future-proof' their businesses with regards to current changes in legislation within the industry.
The event was topped off with the evening's awards and a glittering 'white tie and tiara' dinner dance that attracted more than 230 guests.
Three seminars were presented on the afternoon of the 29th to help companies keep up-to-date with current industry developments.Topics covered where, 'The Green Deal', 'CE Marking' and 'Minimum Technical Competences' and focussed on informing members what they need to do to remain fully compliant and stay ahead of the competition.

Listers enjoy 8 Years of G-Award Recognition
Lister Trade Frames of Stoke on Trent have just been selected as finalists in the National Glass and Glazing G-Awards for the eighth consecutive year. The Awards this year will be hosted by Patrick Kielty, comedian, TV and radio star, at the London Hilton Park Lane.
It’s believed that Listers’ achievement is a record in itself and is all the more impressive when considering that this is a national event where the standard of entries remains consistently high year on year and where companies actively compete to gain the top industry accolades. Schueco's Library of BIM Fenestration Objects is UK's First
Schueco UK, has claimed another UK first – a library of aluminium fenestration objects developed specifically for use with Building Information Modeling (BIM). The library includes windows, doors, sliding doors and sliding/folding doors. In addition, Schueco’s range of curtain wall profiles can be assigned to Autodesk Revit generic façade systems.
The move recognises the growing importance of the BIM concept to the future of construction in Britain (it will be mandatory for all government projects over £5 million by 2016) and demonstrates Schueco UK’s commitment to technological innovation and to providing an unrivalled level of customer service.

Big names in joinery manufacturing sign up to industry’s first CPD scheme
The British Woodworking Federation’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme is receiving backing from the most progressive firms in UK joinery manufacturing following launch of the scheme at W12.
Eleven organisations, including nine joinery companies, have shown their support already by signing up to the scheme.

Tributes paid to pioneering Leicestershire businesswoman
A pioneering businesswoman who was a leading light in the marketing of the first life-saving window lock of its kind in the UK has died. Deborah Jennings Director of Jackloc, an award-winning Leicestershire firm which distributes its own unique cable window restrictors – originally designed by her father Derek Horne 10 years ago.
She and her sisters Emma Wells and Judith Burrows established a thriving market for the product, building up Jackloc to become a leader in its field and a highly successful international business, with orders from as far afield as Russia, Mexico, Arabia, Malaysia and Australia.
