ERA now offers a range of British Standard Nightlatches that also carry the additional endorsement of Secured by Design (SBD) accreditation. They are two British Standard Nightlatches: the British Standard High Security Nightlatch, which complies with BS3621:2007, and the British Standard Keyless Egress Nightlatch, designed and manufactured to BS8621:2007.

The ERA BS High Security Nightlatch features an integral cylinder pull with an anti-drill plate and the six-pin cylinder also protects against picking and bumping. It comes with a 20mm bolt throw which extends automatically when the door is closed for greater security and strength and with this automatic deadlocking design feature, forced entry using a credit card is virtually impossible. This product is ideally suited for glass panelled doors as it has been designed with an ergonomic internal lockable handle offering added security against forced entry.

The ERA BS Keyless Egress Nightlatch, is designed to overcome the conflict between a secure British Standard accredited front door lock and fire safety recommendations. It has all the features of the High Security Nightlatch, with the same choice of size and finishes, but has a keyless lever on the inside of the door to ensure it is possible to make an emergency escape in the event of a fire. The locks are classified as providing keyless egress at all times and are particularly suited to solid type entrance doors in multi-residential buildings.

Both the BS Nightlatches are available in two sizes: standard, with a 60mm backset and narrow with a 40mm backset. There is a choice of brass or chrome effect cylinder finish and cases are available in brass, polished chrome, satin chrome effect and satin nickel finishes.
