Mila’s latest high security ProSecure door handles have the familiar Secured by Design logo etched onto their external backplate providing a useful deterrent against potential break ins. However, feedback from customers has now prompted Mila to add the Kitemark logo to the internal backplate as well because it says in the retail market, the Kitemark is still the most trusted and familiar indication of quality.

Richard Gyde, Managing Director of Mila, says: “We’ve been talking to customers selling direct to homeowners and they tell us that, whilst the Secured by Design logo sometimes needs to be explained, the Kitemark logo is instantly recognisable and carries with it really powerful messages about product quality, security and safety.

“All the ProSecure handles we supply in the future will therefore carry both logos so that our trade customers can promote the benefits of both.”

Mila’s customer feedback echoes the findings of research carried out by Gfk NOP amongst customers who recognised the Kitemark symbol. In its survey, 49% of UK adults look for a Kitemark when buying products or services and 88% trust Kitemark and believe it shows a reputable company.

The ProSecure door handle, launched by Mila in April this year, is already one of Mila’s most successful product introductions ever with almost 10,000 units already sold.

The handle is PAS24 approved and has achieved a two star rating under the new retrofit security standard TS007,

Suitable for use on both 70mm PVC-U doors and 44mm composite/timber door slabs, the ProSecure handle is available in two backplate sizes and in six durable finishes including polished chrome and polished gold. It can be fitted into standard lock cases using M6 fixing screws and uses the standard ProLinea routing centres.

Designed in house by Mila’s specialist design team, it draws on many of the features proven across Mila’s existing high security handle range including an integral steel reinforcement plate with a deep drawn pocket feature which protects the cylinder from attack and an anti drill disk in front of the cylinder which provides further protection.

Mila has achieved European Design Registration on the ProSecure product design and has a patent pending on the steel reinforcement element.
