SIG becomes first BBA Approved Installer under PAS 2030

Glassolutions has scooped a top health and safety award in the British Glass Awards 2012.
The Isle of Wight branch, based in Newport, won the category for “Best safety performance for under 50 employees”.
The British Glass Awards are designed to promote health and safety best practice with the objective of reducing the number of accidents within the workplace.

Hegla and Bystronic unite
The cooperation agreement between Bystronic glass and HEGLA has been completed and was signed by both parties last week.
After having initially announced the intent of cooperation in January of this year, Bystronic glass and HEGLA are entering a “Preferred Partner” cooperation with immediate effect.
The cooperation agreement is a long-term plan. The objective of the partnership is the cooperation on the product and market side, in which Bystronic glass and HEGLA will apply and pool their respective core areas of expertise for the architectural glass processing machines.

Lisec Is Awarded the State Prize2012
Lisec Group have been awarded the first prize in 'Research & Innovation' for their pioneering thin glass technology in the State Prize2012 ‘Clean Technology Austria’. This is the second time in five years that Lisec has won an award.
On Tuesday evening, the State Prize ‘Clean Technology Austria’ was awarded for the third time. The winners of the three categories, with three nominees each, had been selected by an independent panel of experts and were announced on last month during a gala dinner at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna.

Q1 shapes up well Profile bending specialist, Universal Arches, has just reported their best ever quarter 1 results, 3.25% up on last year for January through to March 2012.
This performance, the company feels, shows that continued investment, customer care and an attention to quality clearly pays dividends. The company continues to bring a number of firsts to the bending sector.
The company now offers direct deliveries for the more populous areas of the UK along with free profile collections. Other areas are now served by a specialist haulage firm and combined with the direct deliveries, there’s now no more multiple handling and use of delivery hubs, which increase the risk of damage or missing goods.

Law gets tough on data piracy
Still using good old Yellow Pages or online directories for your prospect list? If you’re using database lists as a source of sales leads you could end up in court.
Most people recognise that video piracy or illegally downloading music is wrong, but many business owners don’t realise their staff could also be breaching copyright law by using business data illegally.
Business data, such as prospect databases, is protected under the UK Copyright, Design and Patents Act 1988 and the European Union 1996 Directive No. 96/9/EC and using data without the owners express permission is copyright infringement which can carry severe penalties.

Frameless Balustrades From Bohle
Bohle Ltd has added another innovative product to its existing range with Posiglaze, a frameless balustrade that is both visually appealing and easy to install. This aluminium channel system, which is lightweight and extremely strong, holds glass panels in place for use on balustrades and partitions in both domestic and commercial applications.
Posiglaze allows the installer to adjust the glass panels once in place by simply adjusting the bolts screw to align the glass. It can accommodate a range of glass sizes: 12mm, 15mm, 17.5mm, 19mm and 21.5mm and meets BSI standard 6180:2011 for the balustrade market. Posiglaze comes in brushed stainless steel as standard but can be anodised in a wide range of colours and effects to suit the setting.

SWISSPACER welcomes the BFRC’s statement on 28 May 2012 clarifying the conductivity values simulators should use for the full list of warm edge spacer bars. The BFRC has addressed some of the confusion in the industry highlighted by SWISSPACER and the figures for the conductivity values for spacer bars are now comprehensive and correct.
