Quality appearance and performance combined in new weather seal
6th June 2012

A bespoke range of seven colour-matched weather seals, has been launched by Origin, making it the only UK folding sliding door manufacturer to offer such an extensive choice of colours for seals.

The Q-Lon weather seal range was developed by working closely with Schlegel, the global leader in the design and manufacture of high quality weather seal window and door products, and is the latest in a range of innovations from Origin for its Easifold folding sliding door system.

Designed exclusively for the Origin bifold system and with a lifetime guarantee, these acoustical seals are made from durable, flexible cladding and soft resilient foam. Independently tested, the Q-Lon weather seals provide outstanding acoustic performance to create excellent barriers to noise. The seal will also provide superior weather protection and resistance to a host of other external factors including draughts, rain, snow, dust, heat, cold and wear. In addition it also retains excellent memory, returning to its original shape after compression.

The Q-Lon gasket range also provides the best energy saving characteristic currently available, which makes it an ideal fit for the Origin folding sliding door. It features U-values of 0.06 W/mK, outperforming current British Building Regulations by an impressive margin.

Neil Ginger, Origin CEO, comments: “To ensure the same exacting standards of quality engineering that go into Origins bifold door system were adhered to, we chose to work with Schlegel as the best in class for this sort of product development. By coordinating the colour of the powder-coated aluminium with the seal colour, not only does this new range of weather seals further improve the performance of the doors in terms of weather and noise protection, it also significantly improves their aesthetic appearance meaning homeowners will no longer have to look at a black gasket running between each of their doors.”
