SWISSPACER welcomes BFRC’s clarification of spacer bar values
6th June 2012

SWISSPACER welcomes the BFRC’s statement on 28 May 2012 clarifying the conductivity values simulators should use for the full list of warm edge spacer bars. The BFRC has addressed some of the confusion in the industry highlighted by SWISSPACER and the figures for the conductivity values for spacer bars are now comprehensive and correct.

“We are very pleased,” said SWISSPACER Managing Director Andreas Geith, “that the BFRC has published a list of approved conductivity values. Following a very productive meeting with us the BFRC understood the concerns raised by SWISSPACER, felt clarification was required and published the correct values.

“We have been concerned about incorrect claims and inconsistent use of conductivity values over the past two years and the commercial consequences of these for other companies and ourselves. With this statement the BFRC has established a level playing field so every company can compete on a fair and equal basis. Now it’s up to the industry to make sure that the correct values are used.

“These figures prove SWISSPACER’s conductivity values are equal if not better than other spacer bars. But that’s only one of a number of critical factors in an energy efficient sealed unit. Porosity dramatically affects the longevity of sealed units, and with demand growing for triple glazing, rigidity is another important factor. SWISSPACER performs strongly across the board, which is why it’s the UK’s favourite spacer bar by sales volume.”
