BFRC PUBLISHES APPROVED CONDUCTIVITY VALUES
29th May 2012

BFRC is publishing a table of the approved Conductivity Values pertaining to spacer bars (see below). These Conductivity Values are used in the simulation calculations that lead to the issuing of a Window Energy Rating (WER).

BFRC wishes to clarify that only approved Conductivity Values, that are supported by accredited Test Houses and reflect testing to relevant European Standards, can be used by certified simulators in their WER calculations. The aim of publishing this data is to avoid confusion within the industry and to make sure that simulators are using the most up to date Conductivity Values available.

Please see attached Table: BFRC Approved Spacer Bar Conductivity Values, May 2012

These BFRC approved Conductivity Values are also available on the simulators section of the BFRC website. BFRC strives to ensure that approved technical data is used at all times by all parties involved in the calculation of WER simulations.

BFRC does allow substitution of one spacer bar for another, within a rated window, but only when the replacement product has an equal or lower thermal conductivity than the specified spacer bar (according to data in the approved table). For the full Substitution Rules relating to WERs product please contact BFRC direct.
