A warning has gone out to be alert to a new spate of fake CSCS card that has been discovered on sites around the UK.

The fraudsters have even backed the scam with a phoney website claiming to show qualifications, so the cards’ QR code appears to link back to genuine records.

GQA, which issued the warning, says while the fakes may pass initial scrutiny, the can be identified by the poor quality of the GQA logo, the different style of CSCS hologram (coloured instead of silver), fonts and text alignment, and the clarity of the card’s background.

Fake cards are not a new phenomenon, it adds, and the vigilance of construction site management teams can prevent unqualified workers from gaining access to their sites when they present a fake card.

To combat this fraud, and to ensure that only properly qualified workers are able to access site, GQA recommends the use of the recently released CSCS Smart Check app where site safety management teams can scan the QR code with the knowledge they will not be directed to fraudulent websites.

Anyone finding a suspect a fake GQA card is asked to contact info@gqaqualifications.com or call 0114 2720033.
