ERA, has been highly commended by a panel of expert judges for ‘Best Health & Safety in Manufacturing’ at this year’s Safety and Health Excellence (SHE) Awards.

ERA received the accolade thanks to its exemplary health and safety record, and its commitment to ensuring the wellbeing of its team. More specifically, the honour commends the collaborative achievements of ERA’s team in ensuring the safe rollout of a new piece of testing equipment at its West Midlands-based manufacturing facility.

With the safety of its people, operations and products a priority for ERA, its manufacturing team worked collaboratively to highlight an improvement to the new machine, which allowed the operator to work more safely, to prevent causing potential repetitive strain to users’ hands and wrists.

ERA Product Quality Manager James Nalborczyk worked closely with Tool Maker Steve Burley to design and manufacture a bespoke device that would remove the risk, whilst ensuring that the window handles were tested to ERA’s stringent performance and quality standards.

The simple change, born out of an outstanding team commitment to wider site safety, eliminates any potential hazard completely.

Laura Storer, Health and Safety Business Partner at ERA, says:

“At ERA, we work incredibly hard to ensure that the health and safety of our teams is always the number one priority. We aim to create a culture where every individual is valued, listened to, and their feedback on our equipment and processes is used to create safer working practices.

“Therefore, we are delighted to have been highly commended for Best Health and Safety in Manufacturing at this year’s SHE Awards. Well done to both Steve and James for their stellar efforts on this project.

“Not only does this recognition highlight ERA’s ongoing commitment to health and safety, but it also credits the culture we have created and how important the input of each team member is in looking out for each other and keeping each other safe, contributing to a happy and healthy working environment.”
