Central Window has backed an initiative to deliver supplies to Ukrainian refugees in Poland, led by Dave Walters, CEO of customer DW Windows with the loan of a van to help transport food and medical supplies.

Dave, a former Royal Marine and ex-firefighter who has contacts in Poland, collected donations from a local Asda and his three DW Windows showrooms, also set up a JustGiving page to raise funds to help buy further provisions on the  and has already raised over £5,000.

“I want to do as much as I can for the Ukrainian refugees, centres and Polish organisations,” said Dave, “I’m told they’re inundated with clothes but need other provisions, so both vans are full of dry foods, sanitary products, baby food, nappies and medical supplies.

“I can only fit so much in, so while I’m there I’ll spend donations to buy further supplies from supermarkets to give to refugee camps and any others who need them, and if I can transport people to safety when I’m there, I will.

“I’d like to say a massive thanks to Central Window Systems’ Martyn Elwell and Gary Morton for kindly donating their van for the trip, and I’d also like to thank everyone who has supported us and donated so far.”

Dave and his four-man team took on the trek with the van, and another donated by contract packing company Mixtio.

Central sales and marketing director Martyn Elwell added: “What Dave is doing is brilliant and we wanted to get involved and show our support, and we were delighted to donate the use of one of our vans to the cause.”
