Doorbell and security supplier Ring has reassured UK customers they don’t need to return their 2ndGeneration Video Doorbells following the recall notice to more than 350,000 US customers due to fire risk.

The European operation told The Glazine it has contacted known customers to ensure they are installing the devices correctly, adding that they should function as intended when properly installed.

A spokesperson said: “The safety of our customers is our top priority. We have contacted customers who purchased a Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) to ensure they received the updated user manual and follow the device installation instructions. Customers do not need to return their devices.”

Last week, the US Consumer Products Safety Commission announced that Ring was recalling the Video Doorbells (Second Gen) saying the battery can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards if the incorrect screws are used for installation.
