Eurocell has raised £10,000 for the Maggie’s cancer charity from a five-a-side football tournament at Power League in Birmingham – as well as announcing its next initiative to link its fundraising with the company’s half-century celebrations this year.

The company has pledged to give £50 to the charity for every employee turning 50 this year, amounting to £2,600 for the 52 who are sharing in their own half century along with the company.

In the five-a-side tournament earlier this month, ten teams of colleagues from Eurocell’s branches and offices from across Britain took part.

The fundraising is part of Eurocell’s charity efforts for its 50th year this year. Colleagues are aiming to raise £50,000 for Maggie’s, a cancer charity that provides expert care for people living with cancer as well as support for their family and friends.

The company is already well on the way to its target with more than £38,000 raised so far. Among the latest efforts, a group from Falkirk and Stirling raised more than £2,000 to support Eurocell employee Laura MacPhee, who was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year https://www.the-glazine.com/?p=12745 .

Maggie’s operates more than 26 centres across the UK, providing support for those living with cancer and their families. It was founded by writer, gardener, and designer Maggie Keswick Jencks, who was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 47. Maggie and her husband, Charles, recognised the need for a place where people could receive support outside of hospitals. The first Maggie’s centre opened in 1996.
