The Window Company (Contracts) is following its recent G-Awards shortlisting by gaining a second award nomination, the British Woodworking Federation’s Health and Safety Award.

The nomination, from the company’s first bid for a BWF accolade, comes after it achieved

ISO45001:2018 accreditation for its commitment to employee safety and gained a RoSPA Silver Award.

Chairman David Thornton said: “Keeping our team, our customers and our onsite colleagues safe has been an overriding priority since the start of the pandemic and, like so many businesses, we put in place strict protocols directly in response to Covid-19.

“However, good health and safety has always been at the heart of our culture. It helps in the recruitment and retention of fitters and gives reassurance to residents when we are working in their homes.

“One of the reasons why we were shortlisted is the influence that our staff themselves have on shaping our policies and procedures. We have a Fitters’ Health and Safety Forum, for instance, where teams can report and monitor any health and safety concerns and also make suggestions as to how we could improve. Our new mobile app, which allows lead fitters to carry out and upload Point of Work Risk Assessments on their smartphones at the start of every installation, came directly from our fitting teams.”

Both the G-Awards and the BWF Awards take place on the same night of November 26.
