Robert Thiroff, managing director of profine UK including the Kömmerling brand, has gained two regional business awards and reached the shortlist for a third.

In the first, he was announced as the winner of the Transformational Leader category at the 2023 East Midlands Leadership Awards for his achievement in turning around a business acquired by the profine group in 2020 and which had twice fallen into administration under two previous owners.

Robert and the profine team reversed the fortunes of the business, taking it from making a loss to increasing its profitability by 350%, winning back customers, and safeguarding over 200 jobs.

Robert was also presented with the overall Leader of the Year award, which is selected by the judges from the 11 category winners.

He was also shortlisted for the Company Leader (100+ Employees) award.

The East Midlands Leadership Awards are staged by TheBusinessDesk.com, a digital source of regional business news.

Most recently profine have acquired essential assets from Aperture Group including the Evolve, Legend and Warmcore brands and the manufacturing facility in Huthwaite, close to the M1. These new brands will sit alongside the premium KÖMMERLING name, which can lay claim to be one of the most environmentally conscious brands in the UK. This is through supplying window and door systems using Greenline, the pioneering lead-free compound and supporting this with the Recyline recycling initiative.
