The role of glass in the UK’s journey to Net Zero in the International Year of Glass, was celebrated as British Glass hosted a Parliamentary reception at the Terrace Pavilion in the House of Commons.

The event, sponsored by Yvette Cooper MP and attended by MPs including Dan Jarvis, Dame Rosie Winterton and Marie Rimmer as well as representatives of the glass supply chain, highlighted the UK industry and its contributions to the economy overall.

British Glass CEO Dave Dalton, pictured with the sponsor, said: “We are thankful to have this opportunity to celebrate all that makes our industry in such a prestigious venue surrounded by supporters new and old from across the glass sector and Westminster.

“The glass sector is vital to the UK economy, contributing £1.6bn with 150,000 jobs across the supply chain and we are continuously showing the way forward on the energy intensive sector’s journey to net zero, so to be able to get the opportunity to showcase all of the ongoing work in glass in front of key members of parliament and beyond is a great advert for our sector.

“We hope that this is just the start of meaningful relationships in Westminster and we will continue to shout about what makes the UK glass industry so great beyond the International Year of Glass.”
