Made for Trade has announced the official launch of its Korniche bi-fold system along with plans for a new push to take the growing brand direct to the consumer.

The move also marks a further step towards establishing Korniche as a brand in its own right rather than a single product, following on from a brand transformation announced recently https://www.the-glazine.com/?p=4058 , guests and media heard at the launch this week.

This brand is also to be targeted for greater recognition among homeowners, both directly to them and via promotional material through its installers, as well as at consumer events such as the Homebuilding and Renovating Show.

The Korniche bi-fold was created and developed in-house by Made for Trade, based on a bespoke aluminium profile and hardware, in addition to an existing product made with an existing bought-in system.

As the second product to take the brand, following on from the established roof lantern, the move also gives the Korniche name an identity in its own right, recognisable both to trade and consumers, rather than the roof lantern it has represented up to now, as marketing manager Ian Bousfield explained:

“With the launch of the bifold, the Korniche name is no longer synonymous with one product but with a range of products sharing the same key values.”

Among the features of the system, a patented clip-in internal glazing bead said to reduce beading time to a matter of seconds per sash.

Security details including a new shoot bolt handle with an anti-back drive element. As a result, even if left unlocked a forced entry attempt can’t rotate the handle to open the door.

Other design touches include a shoot bolt handle that is impossible to open if the key is left in the lock, therefore preventing any possible damage, sealed bearings in the stainless-steel wheels, and lateral rollers residing in a pivoting axle that allows the wheels to follow any misalignment in the stainless-steel tracks underneath.
Configuration allows either a standard threshold or a rebated integrated cill with a low 52mm stepover height, while build options allow sashes up to 1.25m, systems up to 6.5m width and 2.5m height, and up to seven sashes in total. Frame and doors are available in white, grey, black or dual colour, plus any BS or RAL colours in matt, satin or gloss. The traffic door and shoot bolt handles are available in black, white, grey, polished chrome or brushed stainless steel.

As well as the consumer exhibitions planned, the Korniche bi-fold doors will feature alongside and brand and the company’s other products at the FIT Show in May.
