GM Fundraising has unveiled plans for an alternative cycle marathon to fill the gap left by the Covid-hit Peak, Paddle, Pedal fundraiser.

The GMF 100 event, launched yesterday on social media, is inviting teams of six to cycle 100miles from their company’s home base in one day, raising at least £1,200 sponsorship plus a £1,000 entry fee.

News of the event, sponsored by Epwin Window Systems, to raise funds for Hope House Children’s Hospices, comes after last month’s announcement that the planned Peak, Paddle, Pedal cycling event had to be postponed for a second time until next year due to Covid restrictions, having already been put off from 2020 read story.

GM Fundraising founder Gary Morton said: “With so many events being cancelled or postponed in the last 12 months due to the pandemic, the ‘GMF 100’ gives us an opportunity to help raise some much-needed funds for Hope House Children’s Hospices in a safe and fun way.”

Clare O’Hara, managing director of Epwin Window Systems, added: “We’re the headline sponsors of the Peak, Paddle, Pedal event but as this has been postponed to 2022, we wanted to find a way to support GM Fundraising and Hope House Children’s Hospices in 2021.”

The event is open to all companies in the industry, with 20 team places available. Each company needs to submit a team of six people. The teams need to cycle 100 miles on Sunday 8th August from their factory or premises.
