The British Fenestration Ratings Council (BFRC) has announced the appointment of Richard Sellman as Managing Director and Richard Bate as Technical Director.

Richard Sellman said: “I am immensely looking forward to taking on this new role, and working to build on the strong foundation that has been laid by my predecessors.

“Richard Bate and the BFRC team are currently finalising plans to introduce new offerings and solutions for the Fenestration industry. These are designed to support the product offering for manufacturers and installers and aid the drive towards reducing carbon consumption and improved energy efficiency. The new offerings and solutions will exceed the expected building regulation requirements over the next 5 – 10 years, helping to safeguard the industry for the future.”

Richard Sellman has over 30 years of experience in the IGU and window industry working in multi-national organisations as well as smaller UK based enterprises. He has served on several GGF committees including as Chair of the joint Glazing Components/Insulating Glass Manufacturers Group and Chair of the Glazing Executive (GE). He has also been a member of the Standards committee and both B520 and CEN TC 129 WG4 (IGU EN 1279).

Richard Bate embarked upon his career working with companies within the Testing Inspection and Certification sector. In 2004, he co-founded Build Check and was instrumental in leading the growth of the Build Check business.
