Fire glass supplier Promat UK has helped an interior design and build contractor to meet ‘the tightest of deadlines’ to complete an office fit-out scheme in Sheffield on time with an installation of over 50 sqm of its Systemglas Ligna timber framed fire resistant glazing.

Promat was able to cut its usual lead time from six weeks to four for the Fargate office refurbishment project by Ovo Spaces in Sheffield city centre.

Working with approved installer Rated Solutions, the team was able to provide EI30 fire resistant glazing in the form of four large screens, two of which featured doors, with each measuring 6000mm wide by nearly 3000mm high. This was used over four floors to securely enclose a lightwell which had been installed to provide additional light throughout the building.

The Promat team ensured the glass was delivered on time, with over 50m2 of glass cut, edge finished and taped before being quality checked and delivered to site. The installation was finished by the Rated Solutions team with just hours to spare.

Ovo Spaces MD Rebecca Knight, of said: “Promat and Rated Solutions have been hugely helpful throughout the process, from initial quotation to installation, everything has been very clear and well done. They worked to extremely tight deadlines to manufacture the screens and their site installation teams were both speedy and efficient.”

Cath McLean, Segment Manager – Glass at Promat UK added: “When we were approached by Ovo Spaces, we were already very busy fulfilling existing orders during our peak period of the year, but we knew we could work with them to find a solution to meet their client’s deadline.

“We made use of additional resources available within Promat, and thanks to the great flexibility and can-do attitude of our approved installer Rated Solutions, we were able to provide the Systemglas Ligna solution required.”
