Rapierstar continued its support for GM Fundraising and Hope House Children’s Hospices by hosting a golf day for those set to take part in the charity’s major fundraising golf event next year.

Sixteen golfers took part in the in a one-day practice session at the Astbury Golf Club in South Cheshire. Taking the honours on the day was Team 1, with Russell Yates of Alufold Direct, David Stockwell of Business Micros, Joe Hague of Window Machinery and Rapierstar’s Kev Jennings showing the rest of the field how it is done.

Nearest the flag was Jon Randles, Head of Procurement & Supply Chain Management at GAP and David Stockwell of Business Micros took the prize for the longest drive.

The day was also an opportunity for the four teams of golfers to help celebrate Rapierstar’s 30th year in business, with a number of the players having long-standing relationships with the company. The day rounded off with dinner at nearby Alderley Edge.

Many of those who played at Astbury will participate in the GMF Cup, the charity’s Ryder Cup style challenge in Quinta do Lago, Portugal next year.

The last GMF Cup in 2021 raised over £41,000 for the charity and GM Fundraising is hoping for even more next year.

GM Fundraising supports Hope House Children’s Hospices whose mission is to ensure that no one should face the death of a child alone. It costs £6.5 million every year to run its services and 86% of this is spent on care.

Over 95% of Hope House’s annual costs are met through charitable donations and GM Fundraising is its largest single donor. Since it was established in 1995, GM Fundraising has raised over £2 million for Hope House Children’s Hospices.
