Gary Smith, a supervisor at Rehau trade fabricator Euroglaze, has come up with a novel way to recycle offcuts and show off the company’s product options at the same time.

Working in his spare time, Gary has turned the scrap pieces into two coffee tables for the Barnsley fabricator’s reception area – and added samples of its foil offering so that visitors can mull over the colour choices while they are there.

Managing Director Martin Nettleton is impressed with the initiative : “This is a typical example of how so many of the team here go ‘above and beyond’ what we ask of them. Gary came up with the idea, sourced the spare materials here and fabricated the tables outside of his normal shift. They’ve become a real talking point amongst visitors and customers love them.”

When they are not being used to fabricate furniture, Euroglaze sends the rest of its PVC-U offcuts from its Barnsley manufacturing plant for recycling. It also has recycling collections in place for the rest of its waste to help to keep its environmental impact to a minimum.
