TuffX was chosen to provide 12mm safety glass for the construction of a floating glass staircase with cantilevered floor treads recently.
Three staircase panels and five landing panels of varying width and height needed for the project and the toughened safety glass required to complete the job needed a CNC finish, with completely smooth polished edges and dubbed corners, plus precision drilled holes along the bottom.
The staircase’s combination of minimalist glass, warm wood treads and contrasting stainless steel handrails and fittings, along with the open risers ‘appear to almost float in mid-air, transforming what could have been a gloomy hallway into a bright, light and airy modern space’.
