Morley Glass MD Ian Short has been nominated for the ‘outstanding achievement’ award in this year’s GGP Installer Awards.

The shortlisting comes in the year the company marks 20 years since it began producing integral blind units with ScreenLine systems inside. Over two decades the company has grown to become a £30m turnover business employing 108 people and producing around 4,000 integral blind units every week.

Ian has also pioneered a scheme to reduce the amount of post-consumer glass going to landfill. His IGU (insulating glass unit) recycling initiative, developed in conjunction with Saint-Gobain Glass, showed that the collection and re-manufacture of end-of-life double glazed units is not only viable but commercially advantageous.

Ian said, “Whilst it may be my name on the award shortlist, it actually recognises everyone who has played a role in the growth of Morley Glass over 25 years. Without the enthusiasm, drive and focus on quality and service of my co-directors and the team as a whole, I certainly couldn’t have achieved what I have with the business.”
