And the winner is…

Most would agree, this industry’s calendar revolves around a single axis nowadays, with the FIT Show at one pole and the G-Awards at the other, and now today’s announcement marks the time for thoughts to turn to the glittering prizes of G16.

At FIT, everyone gets to show everything they do to everyone in the industry. Now at G16 just a few of those will step into the spotlight and be recognised for the most outstanding achievements and, once again, the level of innovation we have already seen at Telford and elsewhere must augur for another crop of amply deserving winners. No less deserving, those GM Fundraisers are limbering up for their major event in the year, the Border2Border cycling marathon. Read Story

…and if you fancy something a little less physically challenging, there are still a few days left to enter the GGF’s Window with a View photo competition. Read Story

Whichever of those is your preference, we wish them all of them the best of luck.

The figure, following last week’s announcement of the European achievement is the equivalent of more than 4.3million windows.

The UK’s record-breaking Recovinyl performance contributed 21% - or 107,593 tonnes – to the total recycled through the PVC industry’s recycling scheme in 2015.

GM Fundraising Border2border Training

GM Fundraising’s Border2Border team met up for an official training weekend in Mallorca in preparation for the main event next month.

GM Fundraising chairman and B2B team member Gary Morton said: “The aim of the training is to get some much needed cycling miles under our belts and Mallorca provides the perfect setting for building the levels of fitness and stamina needed to complete the upcoming ride.

“The training took place over five days and every day saw a different challenge to prepare us for the main event.  We have quite a few ‘virgin’ riders this year and the training gave them a good insight into the daily challenges we will be facing whilst cycling from Vancouver, Canada to Tijuana, Mexico.

A view to a win

From a quarry in Wales to an airport, a library and at least three castles, 80 members of the public have so far submitted photographs to the GGF Window with a View competition launched via its MyGlazing.com consumer website, and more are expected before the impending closing date.

The entries will be judged by a panel made up of a Director of the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (ALVA), a Creative Director of an interiors boutique, an architectural photographer and a partner of an award winning architect practice. Four finalists from each region will be put forward for the public voting round, launching on the first week of June.

More join CPA

The Consumer Protection Association is reporting a big increase in membership over the last five months, with a 25% increase in companies joining the organisation compared to the same period last year.

Directors at the company say that many of the new influx of members are coming from competing IBG providers.

CPA Director Jeremy Brett said: “We’ve been providing IBGs and associated services for over 20 years now; and consumers know and trust the CPA name and brand. In 2015 an independent survey showed that 70% of consumers believe that our members provide the most protection, making them more likely to win business against their competitors.
