Gunned down

The TRUFIT tongue-in-cheek gun amnesty at the FIT Show saw window fitters and installers hand over silicone guns in exchange for a reel of TruFit.

Mel Jones, Territory Sales Manager – Window Products, said: “Installation companies were interested in the cost-savings and the time-saving opportunities for their fitting teams. They could also see the selling advantages of installing windows in a way which maintains Window Energy Ratings and TruFit is proven to have up to 23% less heat loss on average than traditional fitting methods.“

The recent revision of the BS8213-4:2016 standards see foam fitting tapes added to the code of practice for the survey and installation of windows and doors and has come at a time when interest in the alternative method is high.

“The changes to the code of practice which came into place at the end of 2015 have given window installation companies the confidence to fully embrace the opportunity to modernise and systemise their window fitting methods by using installation tape,” Mel concluded.
