Brian Kennedy was back in the headlines this week with reports among financial media of him buying a £37million stake in online retailer THG.

Described variously as a ‘double-glazing tycoon’ and one of the richest men in Britain, he has been linked with the biggest names in the industry including Everest and Ultraframe as well as many of the legendary direct-sell brands including Zenith, Weatherseal and St Helens Glass.

Media reports in the last week say his purchase of nearly 3% of THG shares makes him the sixth largest shareholder in the beauty business, which is said to have been the subject of a recent buyout approach from the Apollo private equity group.

Brian Kennedy was closely associated with many of the direct-sell outfits during their heyday. In 2006, his Latium Group acquired Ultraframe. More recently, his now-defunct Kairos Group with its Clearwin subsidiary was found to be the recipient of leads generated by CRDNN Ltd which was fined the maximum £500,000 by the Information Commissioner’s Office for making over 200million nuisance phone calls The Glazine 3rd March February 2020 (the-glazine.com)

Brian Kennedy was named in the Sunday Times Rich List to have a fortune of £275million.
