As The Glazine was being prepared for publication, Eurocell plc confirmed widespread rumours of redundancies and job redeployments, thought to relate to its UK-wide network of 200-plus trade counters, as well as the sale of its Security Hardware operation.

A statement issued by a Eurocell spokesperson said: “In preparation for the possibility of a reduction in market volumes, we have made some strategic changes across our business that have resulted in a few employees being redeployed to other roles and a small number of redundancies.

“These changes enable us to continue to focus on growth and winning share for our customers.”

The group said nothing about the number of people involved but other sources suggest it may run to several dozen.

The news comes at the same time as the group announced the sale of its Security Hardware business to UAP (see separate story https://www.the-glazine.com/?p=8051)
