Schüco is introducing its new UDC 80 unitized façade system for medium and high rise residential or commercial buildings.

The 80mm profile system, with a U-value of 0.86 W/m²K, is designed to incorporate a range of materials including sheet metal panels, printed glass or natural stone as well as glazing. These can be integrated flush into the façade, or face-filled to create deep offsets if required.

UDC 80 is designed to arrive on site as prefabricated modules and is available with two options to include concealed ventilation (UDC 80 CV) or to implement structural glazing (UDC 80 SG).

Among developments from the existing UDC 65 system, the company cites:

  • Glass thickness increased from 56mm up to 70mm.
  • Panel size increased from 2700w x 3600h up to 3000w x 4000h.
  • Panel weights increased from 500kg max. up to 1000kg max. with engineered glass support solution.
  • Unitised stack joint increased from +/-7.5mm up to +/-15mm – this means the system deals with far greater building movement.
  • Increased profile range, meaning we can deal with large panel sizes and wind loads from a standard range of profiles.
  • Improved thermal performance with low Uf0.86W/m2K – this was previously Uf1.4W/m2K.
  • Concealed Vent option meaning no visible frame width change for opening casements.
  • Overall improvements in manufacturing techniques and assembly methods.
  • Improved section design to accommodate Architectural trends of large projecting external fins.
  • Dedicated solutions for integrated balustrades and external Schuco ZDS blind system.
