Certass has teamed up with Which? Trusted Traders to help members of the certification body promote their business and access leads from homeowners who are searching for companies through the Which? Trusted Trader website.

The partnership will also give Certass members with fewer than 39 employees 50 percent off the monthly fee for the first six months of Which? Endorsement membership.

It is also said to spread the message about the negative impact of door-to-door sales in the industry, as Danelle Kaukau, head of member services at Certass, explained: “Door-to-door sales are an outdated and poor industry practice that perpetuates the negative perception of our industry with consumers.

“Just as Certass champions local installers and tradespeople, Which? is the consumer champion brand that is trusted by thousands of homeowners making this a perfect partnership, to help homeowners find trusted, competent tradespeople to carry out their home improvements.”

Although the Which? brand offers advice and guidance on a full range of topics, more than half of the 15 million monthly hits on the site are from consumers looking for advice on home improvements. The Which? Trusted Trader Code of Conduct includes a pledge to “Not undertake unsolicited visits to consumers’ homes”, which closely aligns with Certass’ aims to limit door-to-door selling and start.

Raj Kakar-Clayton, MD of Which? Trusted Traders, said: “We’re delighted to be teaming up with Certass in a way that stands to directly benefit so many UK consumers. Which? Trusted Traders is built around working with traders that have rigorous high standards, and this relationship with Certass reinforces that ethos.

“This represents another step in our continuing commitment to help drive up standards and set new service benchmarks for UK customers.”
