Birmingham fabricator Shelforce has received the first major order for its newly-launched Fireshel 30-minute fore door, for 210 units for three blocks of flats in the city.

The company, which employs a high proportion of people with various disabilities, is to supply and install the doors with main contractor Waites at Home Meadow House, Hollypiece House and Coppice House in Acocks Green, which support retirement and sheltered housing.

Shelforce recently launched its new Fireshel 30-minute fire-resistant door for local authorities that need fully EN tested 3rd Party Accredited replacement fire door sets that are compliant with the latest 2020 MHCLG Annex A recommendations https://www.the-glazine.com/WeeklyFolders/glazine02june2020/birmingham_based_local_authority.htm .

Business manager Howard Trotter said: “Safety and security in any building should never be compromised and our Fireshel system has been designed and tested to meet the highest standards to ensure that it exceeds current safety regulations. Our fire doors will help local authorities to ensure that all their tenants are living in a safe and secure environment.”

All Fireshel fire doors have been fire and smoke tested from both the inside and outside and PAS 024 Security tested. The door set complete with fanlight glazing panel achieved 49 minutes fire resistance when EN1634-1 tested.

Shelforce employs some of the city’s most vulnerable people, with 75% of its workforce disabled. It has worked on several Birmingham projects with Wates, including the transformation of Adelaide Tower and the £11million revamp of Barry Jackson Tower, a 20-storey tower block to help homeless families.www.shelforce.com
