Sean English, one of Business Micros’ technical team, had an enviable commute to the Caribbean recently to complete an installation of Evolution processing software in The Bahamas.
The majority of the installation at StormFrame Windows in the islands’ capital Nassau had been carried out remotely, but the company’s Manufacturing Director Manuel Nunes requested a site training visit so that Business Micros could tailor the reporting elements of the software and train his team who had previously just relied on manual processes.
Manuel had experience of Evolution from his time working in the UK and wanted to bring all the proven efficiency benefits of the software to StormFrame. He is delighted with the outcome: “We couldn’t be more pleased with the service and support provided by Sean and the team. Their professionalism and attention to detail have been outstanding. We are already seeing improvements in our operational efficiency and manufacturing accuracy, which is leading to increased capacity and fewer processing errors.
“The Evolution system has been a game-changer for our sales team, giving them the independence to manage their own quotes and drawings with ease. We are excited to continue working with Business Micros to further streamline our processes and grow our business. Highly recommended!”
For Sean English, the trip provided a fascinating insight into overseas fabrication. He said: “StormFrame manufacture ‘impact rated windows and doors’ so, even though they are manufacturing in Rehau profile, the elements are all very different to what we see in the UK. Most of the windows are fabricated as individual frames, rather than with transoms, and most are single glazed with 6mm, 8mm or 10mm laminated glass because they need to be as hurricane proof as possible. Given that Hurricane Milton struck the Caribbean just after I got home, I can definitely see why impact rating rather than thermal efficiency is the priority!”
StormFrame manufactures around 300 PVC-U frames per week for customers across the islands in The Bahamas. Since it was established in 1999, its windows and doors have been installed in some of the islands’ most glamorous and luxurious homes.
Business Micros has a long established network of overseas customers and while most are supported remotely, the company’s technical team makes regular visits to locations across Europe, the US and Australasia.
