Pyroguard has introduced Pyroguard Firesafe; a new range of modified toughened fire safety glass.

The range offers varying levels of fire protection (E30, EW30, E60 and EW60), with the coated range able to provide radiant heat reduction for up to 60 minutes (EW Classification. The lightweight monolithic solution is fully UV stable, offering a solution for applications facing high solar and ambient temperatures.

Available in 6mm – 19mm thicknesses, Pyroguard Firesafe is certified for use within steel, timber and aluminum profiles for both internal and external applications. This includes single frame, opening windows, glazed screens, curtain walls and doors, subject to local approvals.

The range can be laminated (VF) or used in an insulated glazing unit (VI) for additional performance requirements, such as anti-attack, solar or acoustics. There are also VF and VI options that offer double-sided fire resistance and with large panes available (2040mm x 3600mm), it is suitable for today’s project demands in fire screens, façades and atriums.

UK sales director Andy Lake said: “Glazing plays a crucial element in the construction of modern buildings but meeting functional safety requirements should not have to compromise on design. With Pyroguard Firesafe, the monolithic toughened family of products is a cost-effective and versatile solution that will benefit our customers across both the distribution and projects markets.

“The new range offers a flexible solution that can meet varying design requirements, while offering optimum ‘Class A’ level of fire safety protection; from 30 minutes to 60 minutes (and even up to 120 minutes in some specific applications) in a wide array of thicknesses. It has been impact tested to BS EN 12600 (1C1 equivalent to Class A under BS 6206), the highest rating for safety glass, and conforms to ENS12150-1 requirements for thermally toughened soda lime silicate safety glass. Pyroguard Firesafe also meets regulatory requirements internationally and like all Pyroguard products, is tested and approved by Warringtonfire, Certifire (UK) and Efectis, France.
