Epwin fabricator Mercury Glazing was partner to Droylsden Glass in replacing 75 vertical sliding windows, including two arched, in a commercial building in Stockport where owners had been concerned about the safety of the existing windows.

Moorcroft, a debt recovery company, also wanted to improve the building’s energy efficiency and reduce its carbon footprint without compromising on its heritage appearance.

Droylsden Glass MD Kevin Thackeray said: “As always, the technical experience and expertise that Mercury Glazing brought, along with their outstanding commitment to fabrication excellence and customer service, were invaluable on this project.”

Child restrictors were installed on all the sash windows along with featured tilt restrictors for additional safety.

The windows used 4mm Low-E Planitherm Total+ glass and warm edge spacers, with trickle ventilation. Privacy film was also applied.

Ovolo styling to a deep bottom rail and large and small sash profiles and 37mm ultra-slim meeting rail were used to replicate the appearance of a traditional sash window. The frames were specified in white with white Georgian bars to match the original windows.

Founded in 1982, Droylsden Glass provides homeowners across Greater Manchester with a range of excellent home-improvement products and services.
