Plans for a series of Retrofit Action Week events have been announced by Low Carbon Homes following the organisation’s earlier regional retrofit summits.

Dates are arranged for week-long events in three regional centres, beginning with the West Midlands on May 11-19.

The event is aimed to bring together residents, communities and industry with a range of free-to-attend events and activities from 11th – 19th May 2024.

Low Carbon Homes director Graham Lock said: “With the retrofit of local homes being a key priority for the West Midlands Combined Authority from 2025 as greater devolved spending powers kick-in, RAW will galvanize regional stakeholder around the rapid retrofit scale-up opportunity, and demonstrate how best to ensure maximum benefits are captured.”

RAW starts with resident-focused ‘show and tell’ tours in retrofitted homes around the city, organised by Birmingham Green Doors. These tours provide an opportunity for residents to visit the properties of those already living in a retrofitted home. Throughout Retrofit Action Week further activities will take place across the West Midlands, including events to support local authorities, housing associations, community groups and residents.

Graham concluded: “There’s palpable excitement across the region about the arrival of greater devolved powers and the prospect of a new Government which will further boost the local retrofit market. Retrofit Action Week will help galvanise local action, providing an opportunity for anyone to get involved at a level to suit their needs.”
