And still on security matters, we hear this week that police and firefighters in Greater Manchester are getting a few expert tips on breaking and entering – for all the right reasons, of course. They are not the first forces to undertake such training, as we have reported in recent issues, and they will undoubtedly  not be the last as the industry strives ever harder to ramp up door defences.Read more

Era has acquired British smart security provider Y-cam, for an undisclosed sum, in a move that CEO Darren Waters says: ‘puts Era right at the forefront of the smart security market’.

Smart Ready, a new Certification Standard and security system for windows and doors, thought to be the first of its kind, has been unveiled at a press preview event prior to official launch at the FIT Show next month.

The standard is aimed to enable manufacturers, installers, hardware suppliers, housebuilders and others to identify products that are ready to be fitted with smart technology either at point of manufacture or by retrofit later.
