Homeowners’ choice
9th April 2019

Eight out of ten homeowners say they prefer the look of the ULTRAFRAME Ultraroof and would choose to buy the system over leading competitors, according to a new independent survey carried out for the manufacturer.

The research, based on the responses of 64 UK homeowners earlier this year, also found that when consumers choose a tiled roof, as well as considering the aesthetic and thermal benefits, they want to feel that they are choosing something which is more like an extension, rather than a conservatory.

Its findings came as the company launched the second generation of its Ultraroof which among other benefits is now fully configureable, so can be used to create any style or shape. It also includes new panel technology with a steel/timber i-beam with clips that form a batten structure - meaning that no internal or external battening is required. This means that Ultraroof is now a further 20% faster to fit.

The company says: “Consumers involved in the research were impressed with Ultraroof’s unique internal pelmet, said to create a spacious vaulted feel but also provide space to house speakers or downlighting. An extended soffit option further adds to the extension-like feel of the system, providing the perfect spot for lighting to be positioned on the exterior of the roof.”

Design and development director Andrew Thomson said of the survey: “It was fantastic to have our belief that Ultraroof is the best tiled roof on the market confirmed by the consumers who loved its stunning appearance so much during our research. They especially appreciated that it never needs a tie-bar which was seen as a drawback to other systems – this remains true even now that Ultraroof is fully configurable and can be used to create any style or shape.”

On the second generation system, he added: “It’s clear to see why Ultraroof was declared the consumer preferred tiled roof during our research and we’re sure that its many fitter-friendly features will also make it a firm favourite with installers. To answer any queries that installers may have while on-site, we are now offering Ultraroof technical support via WhatsApp alongside our usual extensive support channels.”
