Ab fab prefab?

One piece of news around the construction press that may have sneaked in under the fenestration radar – despite its size – is the launch of bidding for a potentially £800million four-year framework to provide modular buildings for local authorities across most of the South East. On the one hand, the tender process is aimed at complete prefab building providers and not the component suppliers. But on the other hand that will spell an awful lot of windows and doors back along the hinterland of the supply chain. This is a sector that does not shout loudly in the conversations of the window industry but perhaps, with a few nine-figure sums floating around, we may start hearing a little more.
