Celebrating all that is good about the industry

Last Friday close to 600 members of the glass and glazing industry congregated in the most prestigious of the country’s awards venues, the Park Lane Hilton in London, to join in congratulating the recipients of 12 awards categories, and commiserate with the unfortunate runners up.

The mood in the room was truly upbeat and expectant, and spirits were raised even further by the quickfire sardonic wit of host for the night Kevin Bridges, who continued to crack the jokes during the winners’ presentation. You can read the full story and view the all the winners here or at the G 14 Awards web site www.g-awards.co.uk

Well known charity fund raiser Gary Morton’s amazing feats for the Hope House Childrens Hospice were also recognised, as he received the Derek Bonnard Award for Excellence. You can read more here.

Elsewhere, you can read about how British homeowners DIY efforts are actually devaluing the sale price of their homes, and how new data from the Bundesverband Flachglas now makes Thermobar, from Thermoseal, the most thermally efficient of spacer systems.

I hope you enjoy this week’s issue.

Excellence to the fore at G 14 Awards

Twelve worthy winners stood on stage at the G14 Awards Presentation & Gala Dinner in November, in addition to this year’s recipient of the Derek Bonnard Award for Excellence. He continued: “After eleven years, the G-Awards are still going strong thanks to the continuously excellent standard of entries we receive. Each year I wonder how we can beat the previous one, but it happens every time. All our finalists should be extremely proud, and our winners represent everything to which we all aspire in terms of commitment, dedication and passion. This is what makes our industry great.”
