Get ‘in on the ground’ of decking market
25th November 2014

Roofline and insulated glazing products distributor Magden is helping its customers get grounded in a new market after stocking an innovative decking range. The company has added Fitrite decking to its product list.

The hardwearing decking is made from a blend of recycled hardwood and polymer, giving it the look of timber but without the upkeep.

Magden commercial director Laurence Hicks explained why the company had chosen to stock Fitrite: “This is an excellent product that helps people in the roofline and glazing industries add another service to their portfolio, while utilising their existing skills and customer base.”

One of the companies that has already made the leap from roof to ground is Yorkshire based Northern Deckline, a company owned by Ben Robertson who has been running Northern Roofline for 17 years. Ben explained that while the products may seem different, the skills needed by an installer were similar.

He said: “Our teams use the same joinery skills to install this decking as roofline products, which has made this a straightforward product to introduce to existing customers.”

Ben added: “As Fitrite is a low maintenance product, which looks good and has great eco credentials, it’s already proving popular. Customers also like the fact that it’s slip resistant, quick to install and comes with a 20 year guarantee – about double the expected lifespan of timber decking.”

Laurence added: “As a company we want to ensure that we are offering a good breadth of quality products. Our aim is to become a ‘one stop shop’ where builders can purchase all of their building plastics.”
