Uncommon sense

Through all the recent political wrangling over shortages, be it PPE, test kits or whatever, the one commodity that has never been in short supply is advice. Whatever you need to know about carrying on working, or even just staying alive in these strange times, there have always been as many people telling you to do one thing as telling you to do the exact opposite, and in the middle of it all, we now have the PM telling us to use our common sense.

At the same time, this week we have two organisations setting out advice on the most puzzling of dilemmas – retrofit in occupied homes. But we also have an unstoppable tide of businesses at all levels applying their own common sense and doing their bit to get the industry moving again, hopefully with full recognition of all available safety advice.

Meanwhile, whether you are working or not, or wish you were or were not, we hope there is something in this week’s issue to help make the way forward a little clearer.
