A long time…

It seems superfluous to quote Harold Wilson as it’s obvious to all that a week is a long time not only in politics but in every other avenue of life at the moment. No sooner had we invited your off-the-cuff thoughts in this present climate than the almost universal reply just seven days later was ‘we’re shutting down’ as, whether by choice or compulsion, the majority of the industry has now ground to a temporary halt.

Most players however are visualising light at the end of the tunnel even if they cannot literally see it yet so they are carrying on with their message of hope, whether it’s how to weather the storm or what to do when the crisis has finally passed.

The exception to that, it seems, is the remains of Aperture Trading, which is not going anywhere in its present form, so it is now being offered for sale in its various bits. Elsewhere, LHC is urging those supplier partners that are still active to heed advice on maintaining the relationship through the troubled times, Customade’s David Leng warns installers to step up their online presence in the face of a very different future and in the shorter term, IT providers are giving their support to remote working during the crisis.

So, whatever the last seven days have brought you, we hope there is something in this week’s issue to help you to see it through at least until next week and we hope very far beyond.
