And the winner is…

What a night it was. Thirteen winners out of more than 30 finalists stepping into the spotlight, after an evening of superb wining and dining plus great comedy by this year’s compere Milton Jones, before dancing into the night.

Above and beyond all the amply deserving winners however, the overall number of entries as well as the increased attendance to well over 600 this year show how seriously these awards are taken, giving further endorsement to how proud each and every one of the winners should be. This is also further underlined by a letter from one of the most prolific winners of previous years, The Window Company. Read Letter

This Week's News

Simply the best

It was a night to remember when a near-record 630 guests gathered to applaud the industry’s brightest and best in the G16 Awards at the Hilton, Park Lane, on Friday.

Thirteen winners came away with the coveted trophies at this, the thirteenth annual event and, say the judges, the choice of winners was down to anything but luck, with every single category proving a tougher decision than ever in choosing the best.

“The standard of entries was excellent, a clear reflection of the level of innovation and hard work that we have seen in the industry this year,” said organiser Tony Higgin.

“Every one of these 13 companies and individuals should be proud of their achievement as we are proud to recognise them with these trophies.”

Roof-Maker founders sell for £30million

Rachel Owen and Scott Nicholas, co-founders of rooflight, skylight and bi-fold business Roof-Maker, today announced the sale of the company for £30million to funds managed by Next Wave Partners LLP (“NWP”).

The two have re-invested alongside NWP and banking partner, Pricoa, along with members of the existing management team. The business will continue to operate from the facilities in Leicester and Scott Nicholas will remain in the role of Chief Design Officer.

The founders started the business in 2001 with a £5,000 investment generated by selling their car.

Rachel Owen said: “When we founded the business, our goal was to produce products and service that we would want from a supplier ourselves."

FIT set to be ‘biggest
UK ali event’

FIT Show organisers say next year’s event is set to be “the biggest gathering of aluminium suppliers ever assembled at a UK fenestration trade show.”

More than thirty companies are expected to feature aluminium framed products on their stands. However, they say, the standout feature at the 2017 FIT Show is the large number of window and door systems suppliers that are launching new products specially developed for the UK residential market.

The aluminium industry’s representative body, the Council for Aluminium in Building (CAB), will have a substantial pavilion at the show to offer the fabricators, installers and specifiers attending the event advice on the new wave of aluminium products being shown. Its Chief Executive Justin Ratcliffe (pictured), said: “The surge in interest amongst homeowners, in aluminium bi folding and sliding doors, especially highlights just how much the aluminium fenestration sector has innovated through investment in customer research, R & D and product improvement in recent years.

We Have Email

From:
David Thornton
Chairman,
The Window Company (Contracts)

Congratulations to all the winners at this year’s G-Awards. More than anyone, I suspect, we at The Window Company (Contracts) know just how valuable those winners’ trophies can be, having picked up the Installer of the Year award twice in both 2014 and in 2015.

That independent endorsement of our business gave us a real head start when talking to commercial customers and it certainly conferred on us extra credibility as a relatively small business, as well as being a huge boost for everyone in the team here.
