They say be careful what you wish for. Well, last week's comment about expecting an avalanche of hard news after the 'Good News Only Week' appears to have been prescient. We have some fighting talk from Eurocell in the light of its court victory over Ultraframe and some fighting talk from Ultraframe about its intention to appeal over its Four Seasons court shocker in the USA. It all seems to be happening in the conservatory roof market doesn't it?

More fines, meanwhile, this time for IMI, which has been landed with a whopping 45m euro fine for being part of a a plumbing fittings cartel from 1998-2001. Good news from Heywood Williams though, which reports a positive profit for the first six months of this year, against a loss for the same period last year. The group thinks it has turned the corner. The City appears to think otherwise with HW shares down 5.5 on the announcement.

Mind you, the drop in HW's share price may just reflect the City's continuing jitters about building industry stocks. Just to add to the general confusion, Bovis Homes has just reported extremely healthy interims, saying that it thinks the housing market is back on track after a temporary downturn.
