Living in an Imperfect World
As we slip into the 12th month of 2003, it is all too easy to reflect on what is wrong with the world. The news is bad, the weather is bad, for many of us, business isn't that good either. The one antidote to some of all this is to accept that nothing is perfect: 'everything has a crack in it', as an old Irish friend of mine used to say. At least that way you stop yourself going mad trying to correct things which are either beyond your control or unimportant (well, not worth the time, to be more precise)

Salisbury based Quantal Approved Installer Castlegate Windows has installed a conservatory for soccer hero, Nick Holmes, who played for Southampton Football Club when they won the FA Cup in 1976.

FGI Connects with Major Architecural Project
Float Glass Industries (FGI) has supplied most of the interior processed glass for Connect House, a multi-million pound development project in Manchester. Artisan Holdings has recently completed conversion of the disused Daily Express offices and printworks into a combination of luxury apartments and high-tech office space.

Dear Tony, I opened [last] weeks issue of The Glazine eagerly anticipating your glowing review of the biggest exhibition launch at the NEC for six years. An event at which some exhibitors made sales totalling six figures by the end of the first morning; an event that proved so worthwhile for those involved that by the end of the third day more exhibition space had been sold for the next GP&T in 2005 than was sold for this one. GP&T: Product Launches & Six Figure Sales
As we said last week, Glass Processing & Technology offered more than the usual number of new product launches. This week we report on a few more, including the launch of a new package for creating Georgian Patterns from Thermoseal; new application machinery for Ritec ClearShield; 'Whispering Windows' from Newlands Scientific; third generation low-e coated glass from Interpane; the DeeMak range of patterned glasses from Thailand; radiant tempering furnaces from CNUD and the Micropoint glass fixing system from LMC. Lots of Grins (Smug and Other Sorts) at GP&T
The people from Hegla, in the search for a sales driver for its new UK arm, wore smug grins as signed orders mounted to 'a nice six figure sum', with the first taken within minutes of the doors opening on the first day. 'We are on record for our support for GP&T, and one of the first to book a stand. But we could never have predicted just how good it would be,'said MD Steve Goble. Quotes and pictures from the show.
